Jam Packed Hand Pies

Jam Packed Hand Pies

These Jam Packed Hand Pies have become a favorite in our home, especially with my daughter, Estelle. Whenever I make them, she loves helping me choose which Austin Jam Company flavor to use. It’s a sweet little tradition that always results in delicious, flaky treats, perfect for a snack or dessert. Whether you're baking with your little ones or just craving something homemade, these hand pies are sure to bring a smile to your face!

Ingredients:

1 package refrigerated pie crust (2 crusts)

1 cup Austin Jam Company jam (your favorite flavor or a mix!)

1 egg (for egg wash)

1 tbsp water

Granulated sugar (optional, for sprinkling)

Powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the pie crusts on a lightly floured surface. Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, cut each crust into 4-6 equal squares or circles.
  3. Spoon about 1 tablespoon of Austin Jam Company jam into the center of each piece of dough. Don’t overfill – Este and I have learned the hard way that jam loves to sneak out!
  4. Fold the dough over the jam to form a triangle, half-circle, or rectangle. Use a fork to press and seal the edges tightly (Este loves doing this part).
  5. Prepare the egg wash by whisking the egg with 1 tablespoon of water. Brush the tops with the egg wash, and sprinkle with a little sugar for that extra sparkle.
  6. Bake for 18-22 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Let cool for a few minutes (though Estelle usually can’t wait too long!) before enjoying. Dust with powdered sugar for an added touch of sweetness.

Hope you and your family enjoy baking (and eating) these as much as we do!
